 Project COPE

COPE stands for a Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience, and is the BSA's version of a "high-rope" or "challenge" course. Some of these challenge elements are done at ground level, some on ropes 18 inches above ground and some 30 feet above ground.

COPE runs from 8am through 4pm and can be a day trip or part of your weekend at Camp Lewis.  Boy Scouts and leaders of all ages can participate on the low course, but must be thirteen or older to do the high course.  The ideal COPE group is 8-36 participants, but will be sub-devided into groups of 12 or fewer scouts to facillitate movement through the course.  Depending on staff availability we can schedule as many as three groups of 12 on the course the same day

Units registered to other councils: Our out-of-council registration fee is $25 per participant, regardless of age.

Your registration fee's include all course and equipment fee's, expert instruction, as well as a certificate and COPE patch upon completion of the course.

Please note: Your registration fee does NOT include the rental of any other facility in camp. If you are intending on camping overnight with us, you must reserve a site seperately. We encourage you to use the Hayden Villa, as it is adjacent to the COPE course. We recommend your troop stays in camp the evening before your COPE date, to ensure the full COPE experience. If travel delays move your start-time, it may not be possible to complete the entire course.
